Snyder award
Soccer player Amir Gregory Dabucal (centre) was the recipient of the Gerald M. Snyder Award, which honours him for combining athletic and academic excellence, during a luncheon hosted recently by the Snowdon Oldtimers Association at the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club in Dorval.
The Marymount Academy graduate was presented the award, which came with a $750 bursary, by Glenn Snyder on behalf of his late father, a well-known former west end businessman and municipal politician who played an instrumental role in getting a Major League Baseball team to come to Montreal in the 1960s. Gerald M. Snyder died at the Lakeshore General Hospital on Nov. 26, shortly before the award was presented. He was 87.
