West Island home resales went up in 2007 compared to the pervious year, according statistics released by the Greater Montreal Real Estate Board (GMREB) on Monday.

There were 3,062 transactions in 2007, an increase of 17.6 per cent from 2006, when 2,603 were recorded. This is compared to an increase of 11 per cent in the Greater Montreal Area, the highest raise in five years, GMREB officials stated.

The condominium market is mainly responsible for the resale market’s growth in the Montreal area, outclassing the single-family home, the GMREB reports.

The Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough leads the West Island in sales with 930 transactions, as well as in increase at 31.2 per cent.
