An apparent attempt at burning a bar down near Gouin and Sunnybrooke boulevards in Dollard des Ormeaux last Friday at 5 a.m. ended with a whimper rather than a bang when a concerned witness called police to alert them he had seen a suspicious silhouette throw two Molotov cocktails at the establishment before taking off.
Firefighters were dispatched immediately and doused out the flames before they could spread. There were no signs of a break-in and nobody was hurt, but there are no descriptions of the suspect either.

Hold-up held up

Two male suspects walked into a depanneur at the corner of Elm Avenue and St. Charles Boulevard at about 5 a.m. Saturday and held up the clerk at gunpoint. The two fled the scene, but were found by police at the corner of Herron Road and Fenelon Boulevard in Dorval about 20 minutes later. The two suspects – both of whom are minors – were arrested for armed robbery.

Speedy arrest

Police pulled over a 25-year-old Verdun man during a radar operation in Ste. Anne de Bellevue between 10:30 and 11 p.m. on March 10. After checking his information, the officers realized the man had an arrest warrant out on him for possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. Following further investigation, police discovered the man had a quantity of drugs and a significant amount of American money on him, and arrested him.

Toy gun scare

A man tried to threaten a Dollard des Ormeaux resident in his car at an underground parking lot on Brunswick Boulevard in that city last Monday night. The suspect, who apparently knew his intended victim, waved a gun around in the air and asked the driver why he had forgotten his keys in the car, and then left. The driver called police, who arrested the suspect. It turned out he was using a fake gun which was painted black.

Pilot survives copter crash

At about 7:15 p.m. last Thursday, police received a 911 cellphone call from a helicopter pilot who said she had lost communication with air traffic control and went down on Lake St. Louis. However, because it was dark, she could not give them the exact location. Following a few hours of searching, the police found the 44-year-old woman on the ice in Pointe Claire near St. Joachim church, and transported her to hospital. The helicopter, which had cracked through the ice and sank, was only located the following day.
