Unless you've seen Mats Sundin at the Ikea near the 40, or I see him myself in the crowd trying to be inconspicuous at Jarry Tennis Stadium, don't you have a hard time believing #13 is coming here? If he's choosing the Canadiens 'cuz he thinks they've got a shot at the Cup, why didn't he think that way at Trade Deadline and get here? Or did he and Mr. Gainey and Leaf counterpart Cliff Fletcher (another proud Lachine native I might add) just couldn't get it done?

Laval's Stephanie Dubois impressed her coach Simon Larose the most with her emotional toughness during her big upset win over the #20 ranked player in the world. Maria Kirilenko tried in vain to block out the adoring crowd at Centre Court, but failed. Buy your own earplugs, Maria. Maybe they got a build-your-own set at Ikea? And if you see Mats Sundin there, will you call me?

Congrats to Wayne Conrad, former #44 with the Alouettes and to the team at the Rosedale on Robson Hotel in Vancouver. They flew Tony Proudfoot into Van City for the Lions game and raised $7-K for the Proudfoot Fund and the BC A.L.S. Society. And the best news yet for Als fans---Conrad's '77 Grey Cup Ring and gameworn jersey obtained a reserve bid of $6500.00, which means the auction is coming east to Grey Cup in November. Als fans will have a chance to top the bid and keep these precious Als items in the ands of a true Montrealer. I'll keep you posted.

Next time you're on an Air Canada flight, check out the World category and watch a German film called "The Counterfeiter". It is intense and superbly acted. It came at the right time for me, because I recently heard an idiot in the back alley behind CJAD call his dog---"Hitler, here Hitler". I couldn't believe and didn't want to believe. Next time I see this goofball I'll tell him about how Hitler's goons tried to kill my father.

Glad to report my Dad broke his ankle playing golf at the age of 87. We should all be so lucky to be out on the course at 87.

Hope you'll join me at Hillsdale Monday for the Miriam Foundation Herring and Schnapps Tournament? It's a wonderful event, but I'm worried about the damage Ed Philion and Tony Proudfoot can do to those beautiful grounds.

Players I'd love to see coaching in the CFL 5 years from now: Bryan Chiu, Barron Miles and Ben Cahoon. Loved Coach Trestman's answer to this question while we were out in Vancouver: "Do you think Anthony Calvillo would make a good coach?" "I wouldn't recommend it," says Trestman bluntly. If you love being overworked and underpaid, CFL coaching is for you!
