Shamrocks compete in Founders Cup
The Quebec Junior B Lacrosse League Montreal Shamrocks find themselves in Guelph, Ont., this week, participating in the Founders Cup. The Shamrocks, a team that played all its regular season games at the Dorval Arena and whose roster includes several recognizable West Island athletes, earned the right to at the national tournament by capturing the league championship last week. It defeated Longueil three games to one in the best-of-five final.
For its efforts during the regular season and playoffs, the Shamrocks earned Organization of the Year awards at Saturday night’s league gala in Sherbrooke. Shamrocks head coach Paul Lehmann was named Coach of the Year while goaltender Mitch Hannigan was named Most Valuable Player of the recently completed playoffs. Shamrocks general manager Jean A. Boislard was named Volunteer of the Year.
