Car jacking attempt

A 40-year-old Beaconsfield man was accosted during an attempted car jacking in a commercial parking lot near Highway 40 and St. Charles Boulevard in Kirkland last Wednesday night.

The man was walking back to his Toyota Camry at about 8:25 p.m. when he noticed two men hanging around his car. One of the suspects asked for a "light" but when the man said he didn't have a lighter on him or in his car, he was hit, perhaps pistol whipped, by the thugs who then demanded his car, said Const. J.P. Levis of Montreal police Station 1. A scuffle ensued but when the crooks realized the car jacking was not going as quickly as expected, they took off, Levis said. They fled the scene in a light-coloured four-door sedan driven by a third accomplice. Police described the attackers as two young black males, maybe in their late teens, who are at least six feet tall.
