The Pointe-Claire Canoe Club is celebrating its 20 Anniversary next Saturday, June 13th, 2009. Celebrations will begin with a BBQ at the club located at 75 Lakeshore Blvd, and will continue at the Bob Birnie Arena where a late buffet and cash bar will be available while the group Augie will provide the dance music throughout the evening.
The city of Pointe-Claire was home to seven Olympians, including our bronze medallist in C-1 1,000 m, Tom Hall, a sprint canoeist. Tom has been a member of the Canoe Club ever since his young age as has his mother, Madeleine Hall, who has long competed for the club. This past summer season, the club placed first in the province of Quebec, moving ahead of Lac Beauport Canoe club a long-time favourite in the sports of canoe-kayak at the summer olympics. We have several promising young athletes, not to mention Andrew Willows, a three-time Olympian. The City of Pointe-Claire has been a staunch supporter of our club and as such the Mayor, Mr. Bill McMurchie, and his councillors have been invited to attend the celebration.
We hope to spread the words to all former and current members of the club and invite them to attend this special celebration. Tickets are available by calling the club at 514-630-1256. Please visit our Website at
