Champs honoured by Lions
The 2006 Lac St. Louis girls’ regional peewee hockey team was honoured last Friday night at the Dollard des Ormeaux Civic Centre before the start of the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League game between the Lac St. Louis Lions and the Séminaire St. François Blizzard. The 17 players and three members of the coaching staff were presented with rings commemorating their accomplishment at last spring’s prestigious Dodge Cup provincial hockey tournament, held in the Outaouais region. They won the gold, becoming only the third girls’ all-star team to do so since the event began in 1978. The ceremony kicked off another successful weekend for head coach Danny Dupont’s Lions, who beat the Blizzard 2-0 on Friday before doubling up the Crabtree Draveurs 6-3 Sunday afternoon in Crabtree. The two wins improved the first-place Lions’ record to an impressive 7-1-0.
