Isn't it striking how Real Life has a waying of trying to overshadow some of our proudest Sports moments, or how Sports can give us a source of pride when Real Life leans in hard?

On the day Danny Desriveaux is honoured at Laval City Hall for Grey Cup Success, the pride of Laval-via-Haitian parents is thinking of family and relatives who've had homes damaged in the earthquake zones. Danny's arm bears a tatoo with the map of Haiti and his parents' hometowns marked. So far, the Desriveaux clan has escaped serious injury or worse. Our thoughts and prayers with everyone.

In the Habs dressing room as well, Georges Laraque, usually no shortage of fun topics to talk and smile about, was nothing but the look of concern for the parents of his cousins who chose this winter to return to their homeland. No word on their safety. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Georges and extended family.

Best Grey Cup Party story to start 2010? It's for you to make this Saturday when Scott Flory and Paul Lambert lead a West Island Pub Crawl for the Proudfoot Fund. Scott will tell you all about it on the Als' page of cjad.com

Would you have jeered Mike Ribeiro if he were healthy and on the ice against the Habs in a Stars jersey? Of course you would have. His post-Habs success can be appreciated by Canadiens fans, but only from afar. Like Guillaume's goal-scoring outburst for the Wild.

If I hooked you up to the lie detector, would you tell me you're keeping Pouliot even knowing how hot Latendresse is? I would. Guillaume just wouldn't fit with Gomez and Gionta, that's for sure.

Do you start Carey Price to shake off the rust, or do you stick with the winning hand (even if Jaroslav Halak could only win 1 point for his team after trying to upstage Martin Brodeur on his recent Bell Centre visit) in goal? Something tells me not to be surprised if coach sticks with Jaro.

If the Sens gun their goalie coach, would they want Rollie Melanson, the former Habs coach who has kept an extremely low profile since being let guy by the Habs?

Good luck, but not too much, Scott Milanovich. You surprised he's being interviewed for the Argos job? Don't be. At least one future CFL Hall of Famer who has played for him in Montreal suggested "The OC" as a probable future head coach in this league, and that was 2 years ago.

If David Braley ends up buying the Argos too, I wouldn't be shocked if he somehow trades himself a new coach in Wally Buono. At the conclusion of Wally's news conference on the eve of the Eastern Final, Buono kicked into a "Football is not dead in Southern Ontario" impromptu commentary. Not dead, but sure could use you applying the paddles to a critical condition team, Wally!
