Lakers win gold
The Lac St. Louis Lakers boys’ under-18 Blue side became the seventh team last weekend to ever win gold at a Canadian club championship.
Head coach David Simon’s club went a perfect 5-0 at the Sony Cup, which took place in Laval beginning Oct. 4. That included a 3-0 victory over Alberta in Monday morning’s final. It was a tremendous effort by the Blues, who did not surrender a goal during four games of round-robin play and final. For no less than 13 Blues players, it was the second time in three years a trip to nationals resulted in gold. Each was part of the u-16 Lakers team that won the title two years ago.
Meanwhile, the news was not so good for the Lakers u-16 girls’ side at the Adidas Cup national club championship in Saint John N.B. Head coach Phil Lazure’s troops finished in fifth place after defeating Saskatchewan 2-1 on Monday. The Lakers went 2-1-1 in round-robin play.

Comment online since October 13th 2006EDO United O-35 women won the Nationals over the weekend too - beating BC in the final and retaining the Gold Medal from last year. The Dorval team are surely worthy of a mention too?!
