Habs reward young hockey talent
Three West Islanders and a Hudson resident were among the 28 young hockey players who were awarded $1, 000 scholarships by the Montreal Canadiens Scholarship Program, in association with the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence.

Those selected were presented with their scholarships by Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey in a ceremony before a Habs game against the St. Louis Blues at the Bell Centre on Jan. 20.

Your winners are: 15-year-old defenceman Michael Matheson from Pointe Claire, 16-year-old Pointe Claire resident Gabrielle Davidson and. Emily Davies, a 16-year-old Ste. Anne de Bellevue resident. Finally, 15-year-old Hudson resident Abbey Fraser, a student at Kuper Academy in Kirkland, plays defence with the Lakeshore Panthers and earned a gold medal at the 2009 Quebec games.
