Lions continue to roll
The Dollard des Ormeaux-based Lac St. Louis midget AAA hockey Lions continued their fine play last weekend, capturing the 33rd St. Léonard International Tournament.
The Lions defeated the Rousseau Sports of Laval-Bourassa 5-3 in Sunday’s final. They swing back into regular season action this Friday night at 7:30 at the Dollard Civic Centre against Montréal.
Meanwhile, for the second time this season, the club has won a major Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League award. Fresh off the heels of goaltender Matthew Dopud’s Defensive Player of the Month for September, forward Louis Leblanc was recently named Offensive Rookie of the Month for October. Leblanc, a Lakeshore Hockey Association product who has shown impressive patience in front of the net leading to a knack of scoring important goals, registered nine goals while adding 13 assists through eight games.
Meanwhile, Michael Hunter was named the Lions’ Best Defensive Player for October. Hunter contributed two goals and two assists while doing yeoman work as a penalty killer and taking care of responsibilities in his own zone.
