Man charged with trafficking

Police arrested a 21-year-old man for drug possession and trafficking last week in Pierrefonds.
Last Wednesday at 2 p.m., officers checked the plate of a white GMC Jimmy and discovered the owner's driver's licence was suspended, Const. Daniel Maheu of Montreal police Station 3 said.

After they pulled the truck over near the intersection of Gouin Boulevard and Monk Street, officers noticed the vehicle smelled like marijuana.

They searched the truck and found 10 one-gram plastic bags of marijuana and a scale.

The Pierrefonds man also had six bags of pot on him, Maheu said.

The suspect is known to police, he added.

Jewelry heist

In a bold assault, two thieves stormed a jewelry store at Fairview Pointe Claire shopping centre and swiped bracelets from its cabinets last Thursday evening. At 8 p.m., two men charged into the boutique and headed to the back of the store, Const. Liliana Bellucci of Montreal police Station 5 said.

One of the suspects smashed a display-case window with a hammer and his accomplice snatched a handful of men’s gold jewelry, she said. They left the store and escaped in a getaway car parked near an entrance to the mall. Police are looking for a white English-speaking man, 20-25 years old, between five feet and five-foot-two, 140 pounds. He wore a blue tuque and a blue jacket. The other suspect is white, 22-25 years old, about five-foot-three, 150 pounds, spoke French and has dark brown hair with a receding hairline.

Wallet snatched

Police are looking for a team of thieves who stole a wallet from a woman’s purse in front of the Loblaw’s grocery store in Kirkland last Friday morning.

At 11:20 a.m., the 39-year-old victim was pushing a cart out of the store when a man dropped a handful of pennies in front of her, Const. Chantal Morneau of Montreal police Station 1 said. As she watched the man pick up the coins, she felt two people brush past her, but thought nothing of it. However, when the St. Laurent resident arrived at her vehicle she noticed her purse was open and her wallet was missing, Morneau said.
