Whitaker joins select group
Forward Matthew Whitaker of the Quebec Midget AAA Lac St. Louis Lions joined a special group of players Friday night at the Dollard Civic Centre. Whitaker scored two power-play goals, including his 20th of the season to help the Lions defeat the Amos Forestiers 6-4.

Whitaker became the 15th player in league history to score 20 or more power-play goals in one season. Others include forward Daniel Brière of the Buffalo Sabres. Whitaker and the Lions finished their regular season with a 4-1 win over Jonquière on Saturday night at the Civic Centre, culminating a successful campaign that saw them finish in fourth place in the CCM division with 27 wins, 16 losses and one overtime loss. The Lions will meet cross-town rival Châteauguay Patriots in a best-of-five division quarter-final playoff series beginning Tuesday at the Civic Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
