Human rights meeting in Beaconsfield
Beaconsfield United Church (202 Woodside Rd., Beaconsfield) will be hosting a meeting at 7 p.m. on March 8 to raise awareness about human rights in the Philippines.
Five representatives of Filipino churches and non-governmental organizations will speak about the situation in their home country, where political murders are becoming an increasingly worrying occurrence. For the Filipino delegation, tomorrow’s meeting is just a stop in an international tour that will take them to Ottawa, Washington D.C., Geneva and The Hague.

“This is terrific opportunity to be a part of Canada’s response to this deeply troubling situation,” said Rev. Shaun Fryday, the host of the event.

A petition asking the Canadian government to take action against the abuses and political murders will be circulated during the meeting. For more information, call the church office at 514-695-0600.
