Shots fired
Gun shots rang out in a Pierrefonds parking lot early last Friday after a fight broke out in a bar. r.
The doorman at the Pierrefonds Boulevard bar ejected several patrons who tussled inside at 1:45 a.m., Const. Dan Maheu of Station 3 said. The fight continued in the parking lot until a man pulled a 9-milimetre hand gun from his belt and fired three shots in the air. The mob scattered and police were called to the scene. Officers found bullets in the parking lot, but the suspect was gone. Police are looking for a bearded white man, about 25 years old, who is six-feet tall. Blood was also found on the pavement in the lot, but police believe it was from the fight.
Dogs sent out
A 46-year-old Dollard des Ormeaux man set the dogs on two trespassers that knocked on his rear patio door after dark. The Fenwood Avenue resident was alerted by his daughter to the fact there were two men knocking on his patio door last Wednesday at 8:35 p.m., said Const. Chantal Castonguay of Station 4. The man then let his two dogs out into the yard and the two men fled immediately. A neighbour gave chase in his car, but was unable to track the men down. Castonguay said the neighbour’s heart was in the right place, but that police work should be left to the professionals.
Pot-grow house found in Beaconsfield
Police discovered marijuana plants worth more than $250,000 at a Beaconsfield home last Wednesday. Working on a tip from neighbours, officers stormed the rented Beaconsfield Boulevard house at noon on Feb. 28, said Const. Roberto Del Papa of Montreal police Station 1. Nobody was inside the home during the raid, but police found 266 marijuana plants (many over four feet high), 20 lamp systems and irrigation networks. A power bypass was connected to the hydro pole to hide the amount of electricity being consumed inside, Del Papa said. The investigation is ongoing.
Crook gets away
Police say they missed an arrest after a resident failed to report a suspected robber hiding behind a shed last week in Beaconsfield. Officers responded to break-in call at a home on Saturday between 1 and 1:30 p.m., said Const. Roberto Del Papa of Montreal police Station 1. When police arrived at the scene, they spotted the thief leaving the Prairie Drive house carrying a black bag. The suspect immediately bolted and evaded officers. A neighbour called police later in the afternoon to report the suspect was seen hiding in a nearby backyard behind a shed. The witness was too nervous to call police earlier, Del Papa said. The suspect is an English-speaking white man, about 30 years old, 6-feet tall with a slim build. He wore a black shirt and black pants. He broke the window in the side door of the garage to gain entry and ripped wires out of the alarm system. During the break in, he also suffered a cut on his face, Del Papa said.
