Spring cleanup time
The Pierrefonds/Roxboro borough is getting ready to spring clean its territory. The borough is encouraging local businesses, residents and institutions to do the same. As part of OpérationMontréal.net, in addition to the budget allocated for cleaning operation, and additional funding of over $100,000 has been allocated.
A dozen trash cans will be added to the 100 installed in the borough last year, and a four cleanliness brigade agents will participate in cleaning chores. New, bigger ashtrays will be installed near public buildings. Throughout the summer, two Green Patrol students will travel local streets and answer residents’ questions on cleanliness and environment. Part of the budget will be attributed to the new clean-up program for graffiti on private properties. Again this year, the Environment Division can count on the services of an eco-councilor whose mandate includes enforcing the by-law on pesticides by informing and sensitizing residents on alternative methods to beautify their property.
Operated by SOS planet, Pierrefonds-Roxboro’s first Eco-quartier will also participate in the borough’s cleanliness and environmental activities. Finally, Ecolo-Boulot will participate in cleaning the riverbanks.
Borough mayor Monique Worth stated: “With everyone’s efforts and participation, Pierrefonds-Roxboro will surely be a clean and a pleasant borough to reside in. We are proud of our environment and wish to communicate this sentiment to all our fellow citizens.”
Residents can communicate with the eco-councilor by calling 514-624-1215, and with SOS-Planète at 514-752-1669.
