Although he has been re-elected with about 75 per cent of ballots cast, Robert Baldwin Liberal incumbent Pierre Marsan was not jumping for joy after Monday’s vote.
Marsan watched as results came in on TV at his riding office in Dollard des Ormeaux with some of his supporters and a few members of Dollard city council.

“I’m really happy with the support I received today,” Marsan told The Chronicle. ”I want to thank all my supporters and volunteers, so many of whom also volunteered with the DGE (director general of elections).”

Marsan’s mood was sombre as he watched the Liberals lose their majority government status.

However, Marsan was very happy to see the separatists Parti Québécois candidates fall from their second-place finishes in the last election in West Island ridings.

“I don’t want to see the PQ in second place in West Island ridings,” Marsan said.

Action démocratique du Québec candidate Ginette Lemire came in second in Robert Baldwin, as did her counterparts in Jacques Cartier, Marquette and Nelligan.

The Green Party’s Shawn Katz came in third in Robert Baldwin, ahead of the PQ.
