Vaudreuil incumbent MNA Yvon Marcoux gives victory speech Monday night.
Marcoux wins in Vaudreuil
Part of the population obviously wanted a change: Marcoux
Vaudreuil incumbent MNA Yvon Marcoux was victorious in Monday’s election but his Liberals lost their majority government.
"You know I was confident because I have such great people working for me and the support of the people of Vaudreuil-Dorion but I never take anything for granted because anything can happen,” he said as he watched the votes coming in.
"For me, it's certainly encouragement to continue and I take it as a tribute from the population of Vaudreuil-Dorion,” he added.
As for the ADQ results, Marcous was caught off-guard.
"It's certainly a surprise," he said about how well the ADQ did. "Part of the population obviously wanted a change and we'll see how that materializes in the coming months."
"When there is a three-party race, we often have a close outcome," said Marcoux. "It's a very tight race. We haven't seen a race this tight in almost 100 years."
