Ouimet rides to re-election in Marquette
Easily re-elected for a fourth term in Marquette, Liberal incumbent MNA Francois Ouimet is going to have to work within a Liberal minority government – the first one in the province since 1878.
Having arrived at his campaign headquarters in Lachine about 10 p.m. on Monday night, Ouimet told reporters the close race was a clear message to the Parti Quebecois, which came third in this historic election.

The Marquette MNA said the minority government will have to work together to get things done.

"A hundred and twenty-five MNAs elected and re-elected in this election will have to work for the needs of all Quebecers in order to get the result they need," he said.

According to Ouimet, the Action democratique du Quebec (ADQ) "best understood the real needs of Quebec voters in this election, which is in large part responsible for the success they are now experiencing and the number of seats they won in the regions,, which no one could've predicted," he said.

Ouimet also took time out to thanks all the volunteers who worked on his campaign over the course of the 33-day trek.
