Drug dealer busted
Police arrested a 22-year-old man for drug trafficking after they found 250 grams of marijuana, baggies and scales last Friday night in Beaconsfield.
Const. Chantal Morneau of Montreal police Station 1 said officers stopped a car at 11 p.m. after they spotted it cruising on the wrong side of the road near Elm Avenue and Tower Street. As police questioned the driver, an officer spotted a joint in the car. Police discovered the stash when they searched the vehicle and its four occupants. They also found a small amount of a white powder substance in one of the suspect’s socks, Morneau said. Police are analyzing the powder, she added. Only one man was arrested.

Duo charged with break-ins

Police arrested two men last week suspected in a string of break-ins in the West Island.

Officers from an investigation squad tailed the suspects from Pierrefonds to Galeries des Sources during the day on March 27, said Const. Dan Maheu of Montreal police Station 3. The men, known to police, were then followed to Fairview Pointe Claire shopping centre where they broke into a vehicle. Police arrested them immediately and found tools in their car, Maheu said. A 27-year-old Notre Dame de Grâce man and a 29-year-old Dorval man were arrested. Maheu said police hope to close several residential break-in cases in the region with the arrest.

Suspect sought

Police are looking for a man who tried to break into the back of a house in Baie d'Urfé last month. When a McBride Crescent resident heard a neighbour's house alarm go off at 2:30 p.m. on March 21, she looked out her window and saw a man running through the home's backyard. Const. Chantal Morneau of Montreal police Station 1 said the suspect, described as a tall, thin white man, about 25 years old, with dark hair, jumped in a black, older model sports car. The man, who wore a black ski jacket and blue jeans, drove east along Surrey Street towards Morgan Boulevard. The suspect broke the back patio door of the home, but nothing was stolen, Morneau said.
