MONTREAL - The RCMP says criminal charges are to be laid against six people in connection with the massive Norbourg securities fraud.
The Mounties say the six include Vincent Lacroix, the former Norbourg president who was sentenced to 12 years minus a day in prison in December after being convicted of securities violations.
Those arrested in Montreal today will face a total of 922 charges including conspiracy to commit fraud, conspiracy to fabricate false documents, fabricating false documents, fraud, and money laundering.
The accused will be formally arraigned this afternoon.
The RCMP says the crimes allegedly took place between 2002 and 2005.
More than 9,000 investors were defrauded of a total of $115 million when Lacroix made a series of illegal transactions through the investment house.
