EDMONTON - Albertans will likely have to wait at least a year for details on severance payments to eight public health executives who were let go in a recent shakeup of health care delivery.
Leslie Beard, spokeswoman for Alberta's new health super board, says they may eventually release a global figure, but won't give specifics on payouts to individual CEOs.
Figures released this week show that former Calgary Health Region CEO Jack Davis earned $1.3 million in salary and benefits last year and his executive pension is now worth roughly $4 million.
Figures from the Edmonton health region show departing CEO Sheila Weatherill was paid more than $900,000 in salary and benefits and her executive pension is now worth nearly $2 million.
Steve Buick, a spokesman for the Edmonton health region, says the amount of severance paid to Weatherill and Davis won't be made public until financial reports are released next summer.
Beard says the severance payouts are still being negotiated, but the total payout to the former public health executives is expected to be several million dollars.
