PORT STANLEY, Ont. - Human remains have been found along a creek west of Port Stanley, Ont., on the Lake Erie shoreline.
Provincial police say the remains were found by a local farmer and will undergo forensic testing to determine an identity. The remains were found in an area where a 61-year-old Alberta man went missing last Christmas Eve while riding an all-terrain vehicle.
Bernhard Thiessen was swept downstream while crossing a swollen creek on the ATV last December 24.
Thiessen was a passenger on the vehicle, which was driven by his brother-in-law, who managed to swim safely to shore.
An extensive search of the area failed to turn up any sign of Thiessen.
