MONTREAL - The Canadian Labour Congress is launching a national boycott of Petro-Canada service stations in a bid to end the lockout of workers at a Montreal refinery.
CLC head Ken Georgetti kicked off the boycott today at the national convention of the Communications, Energy & Paperworkers Union of Canada.
He says Petro-Canada is making a stand and trying to break one of the smallest union groups in the company.
Georgetti says the company is making so much money that it should not be demanding concessions from its workers.
The 260 workers have been locked out at the refinery since November 2007.
Georgetti is asking all union members to follow the example of Canadian Labour Congress staff and stop using their Petro-Canada credit cards.
