LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - A 44-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to weapons-related offences after several schools were locked down in Lethbridge, Alberta during an alleged gun complaint last month.
The man made a brief court appearance Friday and pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and carrying a concealed weapon.
Last month, hundreds of students at five schools in the community south of Calgary were locked in their classrooms after a student was allegedly confronted by a man with a handgun.
After the incident last month, police said that it was part of a dispute between two students where an adult decided to get involved.
The man, who cannot be named due to a publication ban, is expected to go to trial on the charges July 27, 2009.
