REGINA - A Saskatchewan man has cancelled his guilty pleas on sexual assault and break and enter.
Francis Bellegarde's lawyer made the request Monday, the day Bellegarde was to be sentenced. In November, Bellegarde pleaded guilty to the charges in the assault of a woman in January 2006 in the Rural Municipality of South Qu'Appelle.
Bellegarde's lawyer argued for the reversal of the pleas saying they now have a defence.
A new trial has been set for October.
