THE PAS, Man. - RCMP evacuated 65 people from apartments near The Pas, Man., in a failed attempt to capture a dangerous prisoner who escaped from a Saskatchewan jail.
Police were searching for Daniel Wolfe on the Opaskwayak Cree Nation. Wolfe was one of six men who escaped from the Regina Correctional Centre on Aug. 24, and is one of two men still at large.
He was in jail pending trial on first-degree murder charges.
RCMP Sgt. Line Karpish said police didn't find Wolfe and that the evacuees have since been allowed to return to their homes.
Emergency response teams from Saskatchewan and Manitoba took part in the search.
