TORONTO - Around 6,500 support staff at Ontario's 24 community colleges will vote on a tentative contract agreement October 2nd.
A last-minute deal was struck about two weeks ago just in time to avert a walkout that was set to begin at the end of August. The workers had rejected a previous contract offer by nearly 80 per cent after voting 69 per cent in favour of strike action.
Wage parity with faculty members was a key issue and OPSEU says the deal contains language to deal with bullying and harassment.
College support staff includes custodians, registrars, library and information technicians.
