DUHAMEL, Que. - The bones of two remaining bodies trapped aboard a seaplane that crashed into a Quebec lake 50 years ago were pulled from the water Wednesday along with the aircraft wreckage.
Quebec provincial police had been working on the recovery since Monday after a coroner asked that the plane and the bodies be brought to the surface.
The coroner wanted to prevent the crash site from being desecrated and stop any expeditions by amateur divers who might hurt themselves exploring the wreckage.
An amateur diver found the plane recently.
Four people were aboard the small plane when it crashed into Lac Simon, near Ottawa, on Nov. 21, 1957.
A preliminary identification has been made of two bodies which were recovered earlier this week.
A denture and a hunting knife on one body have led police to believe he was a 28-year-old man who was on the flight. A ring and a watch found on another body indicate that corpse was the pilot.
All the bodies were taken to the provincial crime lab in Montreal for analysis.
