MONTREAL - Parti Quebecois Leader Pauline Marois will be sidelined for at least 10 days following successful surgery to remove her appendix.
Marois, 59, checked into a hospital Sunday morning complaining of stomach pains and nausea.
Doctors initially diagnosed her with food poisoning before determining the cause of her illness was appendicitis.
She underwent surgery Sunday evening.
Marie Barrette, Marois' media aide, says there were no complications.
Barrette says there will no be interim leader named while Marois recovers.
