HAMILTON - The death of a six-week-old baby boy in Hamilton on Mother's Day has been ruled a homicide.
Police say they got a 911 call from the boy's parents just before midnight Sunday that an infant was in medical distress.
Cohen Smith was taken to hospital, but staff there weren't able to save him.
Staff Sgt. Steve Hrab says after an autopsy late Monday, the pathologist ruled the boy's death a homicide.
Hrab says it's too soon to discuss suspects or charges, as the investigation is still in its early stages and police are still doing interviews.
He says some of the couple's other children were in the townhouse when the 911 call was made, but he wouldn't comment on their ages or how many kids there were.
