CHESTERMERE, Alta. - A firefighter has been hurt while fighting a massive house fire east of Calgary.
The blaze broke out Thursday in Chestermere. The fire quickly engulfed the top level of the two-storey house and crews from both Calgary and Chestermere entered the home believing that someone was trapped inside.
Jeff Budai, a Calgary fire department spokesman, said in a news release the roof collapsed on a Chestermere firefighter and knocked him unconscious.
Firefighters worked together and got their injured colleague out of the burning home.
There was no one in the home.
