Killorn grabbed by Lightning
Killorn grabbed by Lightning
The National Hockey League held its annual entry draft last weekend in Columbus, Ohio, and one West Island native was selected. Beaconsfield's Alexander Killorn, an 18-year-old centre who led the midget espoir Lac St. Louis Tigers to a provincial championship in 2005 with a key overtime goal in the final before going on to play one year for the midget AAA Lac St. Louis Lions, was plucked in the third round, 77th overall, by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Killorn, the youngest player in the 2007 draft pool, combines great skating ability and playmaking ability with a surprising amount of grit. He played last season at Deerfield Academy in the USHS, where he plans to return in the fall. He has already committed to study and play at Harvard University in two years.

Playing excellent soccer all weekend, Lakeshore SC captured the final in dramatic fashion, winning a shootout that was only decided after nine strikers attempted the end the match.
