Attempted car theft
Someone tried in vain to ‘hot wire’ a car parked outside the Kirkland Coliseum last Wednesday night.

Would-be car thieves forced the lock on a 2005 Nissan Maxima parked at the cinema between 7 and 9:40 p.m., said Const. Roberto Del Papa of Montreal police Station 1. However, the perpetrators were unable to cross wires under the steering column to start the engine and left the scene empty handed, he added.

Del Papa said while no other vehicles were targeted that night outside the cinema and adjacent shopping mall, he said it is a “busy” parking lot for car theft.
