St. Thomas to hold fourth annual Terry Fox Walk-a-thon
1,400 people expected to attend
Nearly 1,400 people are expected to walk in memory of one of Canada’s biggest icons at St. Thomas High School’s fourth annual Terry Fox Walk-a-thon next Wednesday (Sept. 19). Students and teachers will have the day off from classes to walk the six kilometre stretch alongside members of the community. The walk will get underway at 10 a.m. and continue until about 12 p.m., after which participants of the event can take part in various other activities like inflatable games and a barbeque until 4 p.m.

The event is organized entirely by the students of St. Thomas, who are encouraging members of the community to support them through donations. They hope to beat last year’s total of $34,000 raised, a record for a Quebec public school raising funds for cancer research. This year's goal has been set at $46,000.

St. Thomas High School’s fourth annual Terry Fox Walk-a-thon will take place Sept. 19 starting at 10 a.m. St. Thomas is located at 120 Ambassador St. in Pointe Claire. For more information, call 514-694-3770.
