Any hockey fans looking for offence on display missed two high-scoring local midget AAA games this past weekend.
The Lac St. Louis Lions lit up the opposition for 21 goals in two home games at the Dollard Civic Centre. They beat the Estacades de Trois-Rivières 9-7 last Friday and then walloped the Draveurs de Crabtree 12-4 on Saturday night. Yasin Cissé recorded a hat trick in Friday's win and Alex Stephenson scored three goals in Saturday's contest. With the two victories, the Lions improved their record to 14-7.

"It was a pretty explosive offence with 21 goals," said Lions head coach Danny Dupont. "Everybody was just clicking and it helped we had some guys back from injuries."

Offence has not been a problem this season for the Lions, led by Louis Leblanc, who heads the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League in scoring with 45 points, including eight power play goals. The Lions have netted 40 markers with the man advantage, tied for the league lead in that category. The team also has five players in top 15 in league scoring.

"Our offence is doing extremely well. We are averaging over five goals per game,' Dupont said.

In their first 21 games, the Lions have scored 106 goals and given up 86.

"As for our defence," Dupont added, "we're still working on that. We need to practise our defensive zone coverage and our goaltending can be a bit better. But there are still 24 games to go before the playoffs."

Last season, the Lions followed a solid regular season with a tremendous playoff run that saw the club reach the Jimmy Ferrari Cup final, only to lose four games to one against the Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard

The Lions play on the road Friday night against Magog.
