$2.1 million project announced in Dollard

A new artificial turf multi-sports field will be installed next to Ecole des Sources in Dollard des Ormeaux next year.

The $2.1 million project at the Commission scolaire Marguerite-Bourgeoys facility on Lake Road will be jointly financed by the Town of Dollard, which is dipping into its surplus, and the province.

The natural grass sport field currently in use will be replaced by an artificial one, to be used for football, rugby and soccer. It is expected the new field will be installed by fall 2008. A town official estimated an artificial turf field will provide 1,400 hours of use per year compared to about 400 hours for a natural grass one.

A similar project was announced in Dorval two weeks ago.
