The City of Pointe Claire said it has come to an agreement with an employee that it would not identify, only calling him by the No. 44, at a council meeting Monday night.
"I will not comment on this situation," Pointe Claire Mayor Bill McMurchie repeatedly said when asked if the employee was Roger Robitaille Jr., treasurer and director of administrative services, who was suspended with pay last September.
Back then, the city said Robitaille Jr. was suspended after "anomalies" were found charged to his business credit card. The treasurer position was filled interim by director-general Jean-Denis Jacob.
Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, a chartered accounting firm, was hired to investigate the situation and write a report, but the company did not return phone calls as of press time.
Reached over the phone yesterday by The Chronicle, Robitaille Jr. said he could not comment on whether or not he has reached an agreement with the City of Pointe Claire.
"I still work there," he said. "I'm still suspended."
Robitaille Jr. would also not reveal whether or not he was still under investigation by Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton.
In October, he had told a French-language daily that he believed there was no wrong-doing whatsoever in his expenses, which were all work-related. He has been an employee of the city for 11 years.
