Cab theft
A taxi driver found himself stripped of about $10 early dawn last Thursday when answering a phone call for an address on Godard Street in Pierrefonds.
A suspect jumped in the driver's backseat once he arrived and, putting a kitchen knife to the driver's throat, stole all his cash .The thief then escaped toward the nearby train tracks. Police described him as a 1.80 metre tall black male who appears to be in his 20s and sports an afro.
Car torched
A car in a private driveway on Senneville Road in Senneville was set on fire at about 12:05 a.m. on Jan. 28. When police arrived, they noticed the fire could spread to the home and began shoveling snow on to the car until the fire department arrived. The arson squad is currently investigating, and police are asking anyone with information on the incident and possible suspects to call Info-Crime at 514-393-1133.
E-mail fraud caution
A Kirkland resident told police last week that he had received two suspicious e-mails posing as notices from the Bank of Montreal between Jan. 18 and 27. The e-mail asked people to click on a link that would give fraudsters access to certain information.
Police Station 1 Const. Jean-Pierre Levis said people who receive apparent bank e-mails should read them very carefully to look for any discrepancies, and if they are still not sure, to contact their bank.
Windows smashed
A suspect or suspects smashed seven windows at Beaconsfield High School overnight between Jan. 29 and 30, resulting in several thousand dollars worth in damages. Police are currently investigating.
Minor drug bust
After catching a suspicious whiff from a car whose driver looked very nervous Saturday afternoon, police tracked him down only to find residues of what appeared to be marijuana on the 21-year-old white male Beaconsfield's resident's car window. The man was arrested for simple possession of drugs. Police also found a full Ziploc bag of a marijuana-like substance in the trunk of the car.
