Lions winning streak continues
The Lac St. Louis Lions completed another perfect weekend extending their current winning streak to 15 games. In the process, the league's leading scorer, Louis Leblanc scored his 50th and 51st goals of the year.

The Lions tied a club record that was set over 23 years ago when the 1984-85 Lions edition accomplished the feat. This year's Lions are one of only 5 teams in league history to have recorded 15 consecutive wins or more in one season.

Louis Leblanc became the first player in more than 4 years to reach the 50 goal plateau in one season. Adding to last year's league leading 31 goals, Louis moves into 5th place on the all-time most goals scored over two seasons in the Quebec Midget AAA hockey league surpassing Philadelphia Flyers' superstar Daniele Brière who scored 80 goals over two seasons during 1992-93 and 1993-94. Louis now totals 82 goals in 83 games played over the past two seasons with the Lac St. Louis Lions.

Should Louis remain atop the league for goals scored this season, it will mark the first time in league history that a player leads the league in goals scored two consecutive years. Last year, as a 15 year old rookie, Louis led the league with 31 goals, tied with teammate Matthew Whitaker.

Over the weekend, Yasin Cissé regained his lead as top rookie scorer in the Québec Midget AAA league. Yasin, who posted 2 goals and 2 assists, now leads the pack with 52 points (19-33), and stands 7th overall in league scoring.

Louis Boileau-Domingue also tied a long standing record during the Lions' weekend in Amos. Louis, recording his 20th win of the season, tied Daniel Berthiaume for most wins by a rookie goalie in one season. The record has held for more than 26 years as Daniel recorded his 20 win season during the 1981-82 campaign. During that same season the record for most wins by a goaltender in one season (27) was also set by the legendary Patrick Roy.

The team's success does not rest on a few players alone. The contribution put forth from all players is the secret to the Lions' successful season.

Once again during the team's weekend sweep of les Forestiers d'Amos, no less than 8 different players recorded points throughout the weekend while everyone contributed to the solid team play necessary to win 15 consecutive games.

The trio of David Dupuis, Simon Ghilarducci and Corey Tozzi once again proved that they are one of the best defensive lines in the league limiting their opponent to a meager 2 for 12 on the powerplay over the weekend.

The defensive corps of Sébastien Gingras, Alan Klebanskyj, Adam Strumas, Philippe Saviuk and Ryan Collier limited les Forestiers to just 52 shots over the course of two games, with very limited scoring chances. Saviuk also contributed with his second goal of the season during the Lions 3-2 win on Sunday.

Ken Matheson, Alex Stephenson and Kyle Armstrong continued their offensive contributions posting points in both games during the weekend.

Mathieu Gingras added to his point total to remain the 3rd leading scorer in the league with 23 goals and 39 assists.

Eric LoManno and Sean Connelly continue to do their part on both the defensive and offensive sides of the ice contributing to the team's strong play in both zones.

Alex Peck recorded his 12th win of the year and remains at only 2 losses to his credit in regular season games.

The Lions high powered offense travels to Québec tuesday night to face les Commandeurs de Lévis. Game time is 19:00.
