Police arrested a 21-year-old Ile Perrot man, who fled on foot after loosing control of the vehicle he was driving on Highway 20 last Wednesday.

Police tried to pull over the Dodge Caravan at about 5:10 p.m. near the corner of St. John’s Boulevard and Lakeshore Road. However, the driver got onto westbound Highway 20, at which point the officers notified the Sûreté du Québec, but continued following him.

The van’s driver attempted to pass another motorist on the highway, but lost control and went into the median separating the west and eastbound lanes. Unable to open the door, the man crawled out through the driver’s side window and fled on foot.

Police gave chase, and arrested the man on York Street. The Dodge Caravan had been stolen, and the suspect has been charged with vehicle theft, among others.
