Shaved head challenge 2008
Transcontinental, partner…and participant
With over 6,500 heads shaven and more than $3.4 million made for children affected by cancer last year, Leucan has fired the starting shot for the 5th provincial edition of its Shave your head challenge at the Continental Coiffure salon at Place Victoria.
Started in 2001 in Montérégie by Serge Tremblay, Shave your head 2008 will simultaneously occur in 25 different locations across Quebec on the 8th of June. In the greater Montreal area, the event will be held at Carrefour Laval, Fairview shopping centre in Pointe Claire and Galeries d'Anjou.

Serge Lemieux, president of the campaign for the Montreal-Laval area and newspaper group director at Transcontinental Media, will also pass under the razor, along with many company employees, and he invites various companies, schools and organizations to come up with their own group challenges, whenever they wish to have them.

Beyond the fundraising campaign to finance clinical research and various Leucan programs in all regions of Quebec, Shave Your Head is also a gesture of solidarity toward all children affected by cancer who, due to chemotherapy, also undergo an alteration of their physical appearance through hair loss.

This gesture makes that transformation less dramatic, eases acceptance of treatment by children, and their integration into their milieu. Thus, you are invited to do it and/or participate to different fundraising events that will punctuate news for the next few weeks.
