An 18-year-old Ste. Anne de Bellevue resident was busted for simple marijuana possession on April 21 after police pulled him over. Just after 1 a.m., police stopped the man for a moving violation at the corner of Basswood and Woodland in Beaconsfield. When they went to go check his documents, they smelled marijuana smoke, saw that the man had a small quantity of the substance on him, and arrested him for possession.

Thieving impostor

A suspect tricked an elderly Ste. Anne de Bellevue man into letting him into his apartment and then robbed him last week. Last Wednesday, a man posing as a representative for the apartment building’s landlord knocked on the victim’s door at about 9 a.m. and said he needed to take care of some repairs. The elderly man believed him and let the suspect in without asking for any identification. The suspect spent about 30 minutes in the apartment and made off with a small amount of goods. Police are reminding people to always ask for identification if they are uncertain about a person who comes to their door and asks to be let in. If that person does not cooperate, or if you are still unsure, do not let them in.

Undercover arrests

After a string of thefts out of parked cars in the West Island, undercover police were able to arrest three suspects working together in a Pointe Claire parking lot located along Highway 40 on April 22. Police are reminding people not to leave any valuables in their parked vehicles.
