Drainage, paving projects planned in Beaconsfield

The City of Beaconsfield will be doing some work on its drainage and roads this summer.

During their April meeting, council approved a $334,110 contract for Roxboro Excavation for work part of the city’s drainage correction program. The work, which should get underway in May, will focus on improving Beaconsfield’s ditches.

According to Mayor Bob Benedetti, the drainage correction program does not focus on any specific area of the city.

“It’s private complaint driven,” he said.

Public works director André Gervais said there are about 40 different jobs the drainage correction program will cover this year. “It’s pretty much spread out across the territory,” he said.

Beaconsfield council also approved a $538,241 contract for La Compagnie Meloche Inc. to carry out work part of the street resurfacing program.

“We hope to do about four per cent of our streets every year,” Benedetti said.

There are about 13 stretches of road covered in the contract, including Lakeshore Boulevard between Kirkwood and St. Charles Boulevard. Work should begin in June, after school is out.
