Nightmare on Bourbon Street
Bar patrons not usually trouble, police say
Two suspects are under arrest after a brawl that erupted at about 3:20 a.m. last Friday in the parking lot of Bourbon Street West on Sources Boulevard in Pointe Claire between about 20 youths in their 20s left three stabbing victims in its wake, Montreal police said.
"The suspects are being very uncooperative. We don't even know if we have the right people yet," said police media relations officer Yannick Ouimet. "The victims are being very uncooperative with police," he added.
A few hours later, at around 10:30 a.m., a lone patrol car could be seen in the parking lot, guarding a beat-up looking white hatchback car with rusty wheels behind bright orange do-not-cross lines.
As clean-up crews went through their morning routine at Bourbon Street West, management staff told The Chronicle it would be impossible to comment, because the case is still under investigation.
A nearby store owner said he was surprised at the news, as the West Island bar's clientele skews older than the 20-something crowd, as far as he knows.
Liliana Belucci, community relations officer for Station 5, which covers Pointe Claire and Dorval, said she is unaware of any previous violent incidents at the bar in question.
