Minister to address local public transit issues
Jot your calendars down for June 13, 2008, when the west Island Chamber of Commerce will hold a conference with Michael Fortier, minister of public works and governmental services in Canada and for the Montreal region, to address the issue of public transportation in the West Island.
"He's going to talk about the state of public transit and improving infrastructure in the West Island," said the minister's political attaché Frederic Baril.
Baril said attendees to the breakfast-conference can expect to hear about more about the potential developments of projects such as the train link between downtown Montreal and Pierre-Elliot Trudeau International airport. "There is money in the budget which has been earmarked to develop public transit," he said in response to criticisms that the project has been promised for years by successive governments and always put on the back-burner.
The breakfast-conference will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Pierrefonds cultural centre on Friday June 13. Tickets are $65. E-mail info@ccoim.ca for reservations.
