Canada Day festivities
The West Island is showing its Canadian colours with a variety of activities taking place throughout the community.
Pointe Claire:
Pointe Claire Canada Day fun will take place at Bourgeau Park starting at 1 p.m. with amusement filled inflatable games, musical performances and face painting stations. As well, there will be pizza and barbecue goods on site for an additional charge. There will also be a Canada Day parade taking place in the Pointe Claire Village. Lastly, the day’s celebrations will end with fireworks at 10 p.m.

Dollard des Ormeaux:
July 1 Canada Day celebrations will take place from 7:30 to 10 p.m. outside the Dollard Civic Centre, 12001 de Salaberry Blvd. Celebrations include live music, a performance by the Beckett Players Cabaret. Also featured is a wide range of activities including face painting, cartoonists, balloon sculptors, arts and crafts setups, and, of course, the ever popular inflatable games. Food and drinks will be sold throughout the evening. Please bring your own lawn chairs. In case of rain, all events will be postponed until July 2. Pierrefonds:
Pierrefonds will be observing Canada Day starting with a traditional parade from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The parade will start at Riverdale High School and make its way along Pierrefonds Boulevard where it will end. All throughout the day the grounds of Pierrefonds Comprehensive High School will be open for picnics and social gatherings. The Fair will be in town as well, running from 12 to 11 p.m. including rides, competitive games and concession stands for all to enjoy. Evening events include a performance by Toto Laraque, a concert featuring Haitian music beginning at 7 p.m. on the grounds of Pierrefonds Comprehensive High School bring your own lawn chairs. Rounding off the day, there will be a fireworks display at 10 p.m. Please note that Pierrefonds Boulevard will be closed between Richmond and René-Émard to ensure the safety of all. Beaconsfield:
Beaconsfield will be celebrating Canada Day festivities all throughout the day at Centennial Park with a wide range of activities for everyone to enjoy. Beginning at 12 p.m. and wrapping up at 8 p.m., there will be a variety of events taking place including inflatable games and Cross Canada Mini Putt. For an additional $2 (each) a craft project area will be set up and a sports challenge setup with the chance to win prizes.
Also setup for the afternoon is a center stage with a mixture of dance groups from different countries and exploring different styles, including square dancing, hip-hop dancing and traditional dances of Hungary, Germany and India, just to name a few.
During the evening, there will be musical acts, including a Brazilian percussion act at 7:30 p.m. and a TropiCuba Cuban music set at 8:45 p.m. The fun filled day wraps up with fireworks at 10 p.m.

Ste. Anne de Bellevue:
Having the honour of celebrating Canada Day in Ste. Anne de Bellevue is the Royal Canadian Legion, Churchill Branch 91 (Quebec). At 10:30 a.m. the Legion will begin a dedication to the new branch colours, followed by a parade beginning at 11:15 a.m. outside the City Hall. The parade will makes its way back to the legion building, 28 Ste. Anne Street for a ceremonial flag raising. After an awards ceremony takes place, the Legion will host a Canada Day party, which includes face painting, live music and free hot dogs for children under 12 beginning at 1 p.m. A michoui dinner and dance will take place at 6 p.m. the cost for a ticket is $25, available for purchase at the Legion.
