West Islanders can dispose of household hazardous waste at scheduled collections starting this Friday in Dorval.
Household hazardous waste pickups
The City of Dorval will hold the first of a series of household hazardous waste (HHW) collections in the West Island this fall.
The HHW pickup in Dorval will be held Friday from 12 to 8 p.m., in the parking lot of Ballantyne Park, 520 Bouchard Blvd.
Only domestic waste will be accepted with the collection. Residents are invited to bring any hazardous waste and to take advantage of this opportunity to safely get rid of items such as aerosols, medication, oil or latex paint, batteries, weed killers, insecticides and full or empty propane gas tanks.
It is advised to never mix or pour HHW into other containers as it may cause dangerous chemical reactions or prevent the HHW from being recycled or reused. Take note that empty hazardous waste containers are not accepted and should be disposed of with the regular garbage pickup.
