Juno-nominated singer-songwriter Jay Semko will be playing at Bourbon Street West in Pointe Claire Thursday night.
The former Northern Pikes’ bassist is touring in support of his latest solo album International Superstar (Busted Flat Records), a country-tinged adult-oriented pop rock offering featuring the single Won’t Be Lonely Long.
The Northern Pikes released a string of successful albums between 1987 and 1992 (including one platinum). Semko penned hits such as Things I do for Money and Girl with a Problem. The most popular Pikes' song was She Ain't Pretty, which was backed by a memorable video. Following the band's split in 1993, Semko wrote the theme for Due South, a popular Canadian show about an RCMP officer. The show also aired in the United States and is now in syndication around the world. The Pikes reformed to promote a greatest hits package in 2000 and they played a show at Bourbon Street West on that tour. They followed up with two new studio albums in 2001 and 2003. A new compilation, Platinum, was released last year.
Thursday's show is set to start at 10:30 p.m. For more information, call Bourbon Street West at 514-695-6545 or check his website at
